Research Projects

Deception in Discrete-Time Linear-Quadratic Control

Deceptive controllers for discrete-time linear-quadratic systems under adversarial detection constraints, based on sequential hypothesis testing. Derived semi-explicit optimal controllers with well-posedness guarantees, with analytical and Monte Carlo methods to characterize detection probability.

Metrics and Tactics for Deception in Sequential Decision Systems

Regularized policy-optimization formulations for three forms of deception in multi-agent MDPs against inverse reinforcement learning (IRL) adversaries. Derived performance-loss bounds and evaluated the strategies on a 5-agent MDP with 248K+ joint state-action pairs using three IRL methods.

MPC-Based Block-Lifting Control of Floating Cranes

Constrained model predictive control for underactuated floating-crane block lifting under marine disturbances, with an augmented controller that compensates disturbances online using next-step prediction.

Design of Distributed SVM Algorithm using Blended Dynamics Approach

Consensus-based algorithm for distributed support vector machines in private, online learning settings, with a distributed optimization method for the dual SVM validated in MATLAB.

Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) of Robots

LiDAR-based graph SLAM in Python using scan matching, loop closure, and pose-graph optimization to estimate robot trajectories and reconstruct environment maps.

Industry Experience

ABB Robotics

Agentic AI Intern, AI Robotics Lab · Milpitas, CA

Built an end-to-end perception pipeline for robotic pick-and-place, from object detection and segmentation to pick-point generation, and compared specialized and foundation vision models on accuracy, compute cost, and human-in-the-loop effort. Ran a proof-of-concept study of V-JEPA2 video representations for early robotic-failure detection.

Blux

Project Manager & ML Engineer · Seoul, South Korea

Implemented a Transformer-based, prompt-driven offline RL recommender for sequential next-item prediction, which significantly increased purchase conversion in client-run A/B testing, and led its delivery from data collection through deployment.

Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering

R&D Intern, Smart-ship Solutions Team · Siheung, South Korea

Implemented collision-free path planning for autonomous ship navigation with Dijkstra and A* in C#, and built a simulation framework to evaluate trajectories across collision-avoidance scenarios.
